I Basement, paladini dello shoegaze britannico di ultima generazione, tornano con il loro prossimo album Beside Myself, in uscita il 12 ottobre. La band ha pubblicato una nuova canzone intitolata Stigmata.
Il brano suona abbastanza fedele alla tradizione dei Basement come li abbiamo sentiti sull’ultimo disco Promise Everything, rivelatosi un (altro) successo di critica e di pubblico, tanto da portare il gruppo a firmare con Fueled by Ramen.
Stigmata non è la prima canzone tratta da Beside Myself: la band ci aveva infatti regalato il lead single Disconnect un mesetto fa, insieme all’annuncio dell’album, che è ancora disponibile in preorder sul sito dei Basement.
“Stigmata was the first time I had tried a different tuning and the song pretty much came out all in one go. It felt really organic -in fact I think the arrangement on the record is the same as the demo I first showed anyone. The lyrics are about the times when you feel incredibly low without any real reason, and how in those times you feel there is no other way to be”, spiega il cantante Andrew Fisher.
