È partito tutto da un meme: un profilo twitter chiamato weezer cover africa by toto (@weezercoverafrica). Il popolo dell’internet l’ha presa bene, Rivers Cuomo si è preso bene e tutti insieme hanno blessato the rain down in Africa.
Easy, perché Cuomo è praticamente una tweet star (vi ricordo che a maggio ci aveva trollati suonando Rosanna) ma chi se lo aspettava che anche i Toto avrebbero alimentato il meme?
Da KROQ è partita l’idea che i Toto avrebbero dovuto fare una cover degli Weezer, dopo l’apparizione di Steve Porcate al fianco della band al Jimmy Kimmel. Fortunatamente Steve Lukather stava ascoltando e ha chiamato per confermare: i Toto avrebbero coverizzato gli Weezer.
Avevano già pensato di farlo, per ricambiare il favore, e ora che avevano scelto il pezzo giusto niente li avrebbe fermati.
