Brendon Urie può fare un po’ quello che vuole e a noi piacerà sempre. Non tanto perché siamo fangirl dei Panic! At the Disco (anche se un po’ lo siamo), ma perché qualsiasi cosa faccia gli riesce davvero alla grande.
Il nuovo singolo che l’artista ha pubblicato oggi, intitolato King of the Clouds, dimostra se mai ce ne fosse ulteriore bisogno la versatilità del talento di Brendon, che passa in maniera disinvolta da canzoni supercatchy e pop a tracce soulful come questa.
Il pezzo è tratto dal sesto album dei Panic!, Pray for the Wicked, in uscita il 22 giugno su Fueled by Ramen, ovvero l’etichetta che ha pubblicato tutti i dischi della band diventata ormai un solo project. L’album è ancora disponibile in preorder.
In precedenza, dal disco erano stati tratti i singoli Say Amen (Saturday Night), (Fuck A) Silver Lining e High Hopes. Brendon Urie ha raccontato come King of the Clouds per poco non sia stata esclusa dalla tracklist finale dell’album:
“The day before the deadline of the record where I had to have everything in so they can make their plans and marketing and distribution, the whole deal… Around midnight I get a text and Jake’s like, ‘I’m coming over your house tomorrow, OK.’ That’s all I get. We start working on this song. I’m like, ‘Dude this is the dopest song I’ve ever heard. This is so cool.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah dude, remember when we came over last week, and you were talking with our buddy Sam about Carl Sagan and interdimensional travel and multiverse is a real thing?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ He’s like, ‘Well, he wrote down your thoughts into lyrics, and we’re going to sing them right now.’ I was like, ‘OK let’s do this.’” (da AltPress)
